To bring everyone up to speed now…
Kyle had a good rest in Idyllwild and then began what he knew would be a tough descent downhill from Idyllwild to Cababzon, CA, which is a nothing town right on Interstate 10 just outside of Palm Springs/Palm Desert.
He hiked down from over 9,000 feet to just over 1,100 feet in 20 miles, which is notorious as being a harsh hike, a knee and quad killer, if you will.
He called me needing a ride and a rest and spent 2 nights in a hotel, and is now back out on the trail again.
For his efforts of going down the previous mountain, he now gets to hike up a new one, going from that 1,100 feet back up to over 7,000 at Big Bear, which I will meet him at on Sunday night. That will put him at mile 266!
