Rhymes with Trucking

Snow Field Pacific Crest Trail 2018

It is said the Eskimos have 77 unique words to describe snow. I can think of at least 77 unique words to describe how much I dislike hiking in snow and its inbred cousins ice, slush, and cold mud. Many of my chosen words also include a modifier word that begins with the letter F and rhymes with trucking.

Actually I need to replace “hiking” with slipping, sliding, postholing, falling, cursing, bitching, crawling, and flailing. Fortunately, what’s left is melting fast, and the worst is behind me. Soon I’ll be across the Feather River, where the Sierra Nevada mountains transition to the Cascades, which I’ll follow north for the rest of the journey. (Tip of the cap to Mom for looking that up)
